HALAL
This
is a category of products and services that are targeted to the 1.3 billion
Muslims the world over.
Halal
is a concept that denotes “comprehensive purity” – internally and externally. It refers to acts and things that are Natural,
wholesome, pure and sanctioned for humans. It also refers to things and acts that are not harmful, destructive
and/or wasteful.
The concept originates from
the two central concepts of Islamic teachings: Trust and Personal responsibility.
Everything on the face of earth, including knowledge belongs to Allah (God)
and humans are only entrusted with them to preserve, use and enjoy with other
creatures. Any choice, act or utilization that conform
to or violates that trust, is the responsibility of that individual alone
for which either rewarded or punished.
Two examples to help understand
the concept in the forms of actions and things are: (a) Trade and Usury (interest),
(b) products that contain Najis (Filthily impure) ingredients as compared to
those natural ones.
(a)
Trade and any profit generated from it are Hallal because trade satisfies
needs and benefits everybody involved. However,
Usury is assumed to be exploitation of people’s needs and thus Harram (Prohibitively Unallowable).
(b)
A good example of things are soaps and detergents that contain lard (pig’s
fat) or tallow (cow fat) from dead animals including those killed not according
to prescribed methods of the Islamic way. These are considered to be Najis
(Filthily impure) as compared to the edible plants extracts in EnviroCure™, EcoPurge™, etc. which are absolutely Hallal.
